Introduction

Ingrid’s passion for paper began upon discovering the Japanese art of paper architecture. Her designs are built up layer by layer and have to be accurately calculated in order to work, to the 100th of a millimeter. The initial two-dimensional design takes weeks and sometimes months before the first cut is made. Characteristic of Ingrid’s work is the complexity and detail. Her works are architecturally both figurative and abstract. The mathematical beauty of Ingrid’s art possesses a harmony that resonate a strong poetic nature. Today Ingrid Siliakus is recognized as one of the most important kirigami masters in the world. Upon discovering the architectural objects of Ingrid Siliakus, Mr Maria was immediately fascinated.
